Some Examples Of Recording And Evaluation
(continued)

All home schooling families use calendars to help organise their busy lives. It makes sense to expand on their use and collect the discarded pages each month as a simple and easy home school record.

The last recording example on page 108 is a check-list designed to be completed by the child. The check-list is used as a guide to the type of activities expected to be completed each week. This is a contract between the child and the parent, and forms the backbone of the educational program. Other activities also happen, and would be recorded in a journal format, with anecdotal information about the type of learning happening.

This is an extensive check-list and reflects a very structured approach to home education.

Learn how to teach your children at home with Beverley Paine's Getting Started with Homeschooling Practical Considerations - Australia's premier 'how to homeschool' manual.

"The best thing I ever did when I started homeschooling was read this book.  It has all the practical stuff, but most importantly it encourages you to look at why you are wanting to homeschool, and what you are wanting to achieve. It will also show you that there are many different ways to home educate (from 'school at home' to 'natural learning'), and encourages you to find  what works best for you and your children. I still go back and look at it all the time." Nikki, ACT
